Typeface History Poster: ITC Avant Garde (1970)
Course: GDS 265 Design for Communication I
This class project focused on designing an informative poster highlighting the formal qualities and design history of the typeface ITC Avant Garde. The poster’s objective was to educate viewers about the typeface while visually reflecting the aesthetic of its era as well as its early applications in print media.
The design emphasizes the distinctive AV and AG ligatures, key features of ITC Avant Garde, and references its original use in Avant Garde magazine, where its modern, geometric style became an iconic representation of 1970s graphic design trends.
